HISTORY OF TAE KWON DO

Taekwondo, translated "the way of the foot and fist", was developed from ancient unarmed combat skill of the battlefield over two thousand years ago.  More recently it has become an international combat sport launched in Korea in 1955. This martial art is known for its high flying kicks and destruction techniques. The breaking of ice, wood and tiles with bare hands and feet are a measure of skills learned.
