HISTORY OF JUDO
Judo is a martial art that began in Tokyo in 1882 with a schoolmaster named Jigaro Kano. Kano wanted his pupils to attain self-discipline and respect for others, as part of their physical training. From his study of Ju-Jitsu he developed a safer form of martial art by incorporating new moves and styles and omitting the more dangerous ones. Judo is now practiced by millions of people all over the globe. Web-Japan.org
