Traditional Japanese Iaido Kaku Obi (Sword Obi)

Crafted for Iaido, Kyudo, and Aikido practitioners, this traditional Japanese Iaido belt (also known as Kakuobi) offers a sleek, thin, and wide design that’s worn over the kimono and beneath the hakama. Ideal for enhancing comfort during Ukemi practice, the Iaido belt stabilizes the hips, helping to maintain proper posture and alignment while you move.

The Kataaro Iaido Belt is meticulously designed to securely hold your katana in place during training. Constructed with durable layered twill poly/cotton blend, and reinforced with nine rows of stitching, this 4-inch wide belt offers a firm yet comfortable fit that ensures your saya stays in position.

Optional custom embroidery allows you to customize your kaku obi with a name, martial arts organization, promotion date, or meaningful message. Logos and detailed artwork can also be added to the belt ends or other preferred locations for a truly personalized statement.

This belt style supports Thru-Belt embroidery only. Front-Only and Front-Back embroidery options are not available for this Iaido belt style.

Choose the ideal embroidery for this belt

Select narrow, lightweight fonts—such as Edwardian, Times, or KaiTi—to help minimize fabric puckering on this unstructured belt style. Likewise, opt for logos that aren’t overly large or densely stitched to preserve a smooth, even surface.

My dojo has one of all sizes and colors and two of the adult in Midnight. The obi have held up quite well and my larger students love that they can order an XL or go with a custom length. I personally use an Adult in Midnight for all three classes for over a year and have not had any issues. These obi are great for longer and heavier swords.

I like the belt a lot and use it more than anything else. I should have asked for something a little longer, but that is not your fault. The material took a little getting used to, but I mean "only a little". After fifteen minutes I was comfortable with it and figured out after a while that I did not have to tie it as tight to get the same kind of rigidity as other belts. It washes well, holds up well, and the colors don't fade quickly. It's a solid product and I hope my video conveys that. I don't really have any criticisms or complaints about it.

Excellent quality! Thick and sturdy material. If you prefer a wider, more stable kaku-obi for iaido, jodo or kendo, I highly recommend.
